Any Restrictions For Media Posts With Instagram Direct Publishing?

Introduction

Instagram allows direct publishing for Business and Creator accounts. However, your images and videos must meet specific format and size requirements before they can be published successfully.

Below are the media specifications supported for Instagram Direct Publishing in SocialPilot.

1. Image Post Requirements

A single-image post is eligible for direct publishing on Instagram Business and Creator accounts when it meets the following criteria:

  • Maximum file size: 8 MB
  • Supported formats: JPEG, JPG, PNG
  • Aspect ratio: Between 4:5 and 1.91:1
  • Minimum width: 320 pixels
  • Maximum width: 1440 pixels
  • Height depends on the selected width and aspect ratio

Ensure your image follows the above specifications before publishing.

If your image does not meet these requirements, SocialPilot will display a relevant error message in the composer.


2. Video Post Requirements

Videos must meet the following specifications for successful direct publishing to Instagram:

Container Format

  • MOV or MP4 (MPEG-4 Part 14)

Video Codec

  • H.264 or HEVC
  • Progressive scan

Audio Codec

  • AAC
  • Maximum sample rate: 48 kHz
  • 1 or 2 audio channels (mono or stereo)

Frame Rate

  • Between 23 and 60 FPS

Aspect Ratio

  • Between 4:5 and 16:9

Duration

  • Minimum: 3 seconds
  • Maximum: 15 minutes

File Size

  • Maximum: 512 MB

Ensure your video is exported using standard social media presets to meet these requirements.

If your video does not meet these specifications, SocialPilot will display an error message indicating what needs to be adjusted.


If your media does not meet these requirements, you may see an error message in the Create Post composer.
