Instagram Profile Connection to SocialPilot

Every Instagram user has their own unique objectives and requirements for using the platform. To cater to these needs, Instagram offers different profile modes for users to choose from.

You can either choose to keep your profile Private or make it Public, which determines the level of privacy for your connected accounts

But there are three types of profiles Instagram provides to its users. They are:

Personal Profile: This is the most popular type of Instagram account used by individuals to share their personal photos, videos, and experiences. Personal profiles can be kept private or made public.

Business Profile: This type of profile is designed for businesses, brands, or public figures. Business profiles offer additional features like insights, call-to-action buttons, and the ability to promote posts. Contact information such as phone number, email address, and physical address can also be added to Business Profiles.

Creator Profile: This type of profile is designed for influencers, artists, and content creators. These profiles offer additional features like content insights, direct messaging with followers, and the ability to tag products in their posts. Creator profiles also allow users to set up collaborations with brands and other creators.

However, content scheduling and publishing through 3rd-party tools like SocialPilot is only available for Business profiles.

So make sure to connect only your Business profiles from Instagram to your SocialPilot account.

How to Connect Your Instagram Business Profile with Your Facebook Page

If you have a functional Instagram Business profile, be sure to connect it to your Facebook page to manage things better from one place. SocialPilot also requires this connection to properly manage both accounts. You can easily connect the two accounts through your mobile device.

Here are the simple steps to do it:

Open your Instagram Business account on your phone and go to your profile page.

Click on Edit Profile, and in the following menu that appears, select Pages.

On the pop-up which appears, select Connect to existing Page.

Now you will be able to see the Facebook Pages which you have. Select the relevant and click on Done. Give the final permissions to confirm your choice.

That’s all it takes to link your Instagram Business account to your Facebook Page.

At the moment, it's not possible for SocialPilot users to link their Instagram Creator profiles. If you already have a Creator account connected to SocialPilot, you'll need to switch it to a Business account.

Why switch an Instagram Creator profile to a Business profile?

SocialPilot cannot publish posts from a Creator profile due to Instagram API limitations. When this is detected, the tool will notify you through multiple indicators on the dashboard. Look for the caution sign next to connected Creator accounts on the Manage Accounts dashboard.

If you go to schedule a post for a Creator profile, you will be informed of the fact that Instagram does not allow it.

If you switch to a Business profile, you will be able to create posts and directly publish them to your Instagram profile without any hindrance.

How to Convert Creator Into Business?

You can convert your account from Creator to Business from either your mobile or from the web browser.

Convert from Mobile App

Follow these steps to make the switch from your mobile:

Open the Instagram app on your mobile and go to your profile by clicking on your profile picture on the bottom right side on the screen.
Click on the hamburger button on the top-right corner of the screen and select Settings.

Click on Account to go to the account menu.

Scroll to the bottom of the Account menu to find Switch Account Type and select Switch to Business Account.
Tap on Switch in the pop-up for the final time to confirm your choice.

Convert from the Web browser

Just go along these simple steps to switch from Creator to Business profile:

Open Instagram on your browser, click on More in the bottom-left corner, and select Settings from the pop-up menu.

When the Settings menu opens, under Edit Profile, you will see Professional Account. Click on it.
Scroll down in the Professional Account menu to find Switch to Business account. Click this tab.

Click on Switch in the final pop-up.

Now you have successfully converted your Creator profile into an Instagram Business page.

How to convert a Personal account into Business Page?

If you want to connect your Personal Instagram profile to your SocialPilot account, it's important to note that you'll face similar restrictions as those with Creator accounts. Unfortunately, direct publishing isn't allowed in this scenario due to platform limitations. To work around this, we recommend converting your Personal Instagram profile to a Business one.

Don't worry. The process is easy!

We've outlined simple steps to guide you through the conversion process.

From Your Mobile

Open the Instagram app on your mobile and go to your profile by clicking on your profile picture on the bottom right side of the screen.
Click on the hamburger button on the top-right corner of the screen and select Settings.
Click on Account to go to the account menu.
Scroll to the bottom of the Account menu to find Switch Account Type and select Switch to Business Account.
Now click on Continue to get access to all professional tools.
When you get to the 'What best describes you?' list, select the category which suits your business, and proceed by clicking Done.
Then, on the next page, select Business and proceed.
You can select whether you want to receive promotional emails from Instagram, especially for Business accounts.
Next, review your contact information and add or change anything, like your email address, phone number, and business address. If you want to make your contact details public, activate the switch given at the bottom and click on Next.
Connect your Facebook account to your Business page next by logging in. It is vital to do so because only then can you connect your SocialPilot account to your Instagram Business account.

You have successfully switched from a Personal to a Business account right from your mobile.

From Your Web Browser

Open your web browser and log into your Instagram Personal account and repeat the first three steps listed to convert a Creator account to a Business account from a web browser.
Now select Business among the two options and click on Next.

You will be shown the features you will be given as an Instagram Business Account holder. Click on Next.

Select the category which suits your business from the list of What best describes you and click on Done.

Now give the final permission by selecting Continue.

Your Instagram Personal account has successfully been converted to a Business account. Finish the process by clicking on Done.
