How to Create Google Business Profile Event and Offer Posts?

Google Business Profile (GBP) Event and Offer posts turn your listing into a mini-advertisement for anyone already searching for your business nearby.

With SocialPilot, you can create, schedule, and publish these posts directly from Create Post, without switching over to Google Business Profile.

What Are Event and Offer Posts?

Got a sale coming up, or an event customers should know about? Event and Offer posts let you put it directly on your Google Business Profile, exactly where people are already searching for a business like yours.

Unlike a standard update post, they carry a Start Date and End Date and, for Offers, a coupon code and redemption link, so the details show up directly on Google Search and Maps for anyone searching for your business nearby.

Creating an Event Post

How to schedule a new Event post:

Error messages for dates and times follow the date and time format set in your account's Localization settings (see How Do I Change the Timezone on My Account?).

  1. Go to Post, then Create Post, and select your Google Business Profile account from the accounts panel.
  2. Scroll to Google Business Profile Options below the Caption box, and select the Event tab (next to Update and Offer).
  3. Add an Event Title. Use the AI Pilot icon inside the field to generate one, or write your own, up to 58 characters.
  4. Check the Start Date. It's pre-filled to the next day and can't be set in the past.
  5. Check the End Date. It's pre-filled to one week after the Start Date and can be up to one year from today.
  6. Turn on Include Start/End times if you want to set exact times. This reveals a Start Time and End Time field next to each date, defaulting to 12:00 AM and 11:59 PM.
  7. Click Add CTA & URL under Call To Action if you want to add a button, and add a Caption above (up to 1500 characters).
  8. Preview your post on the right, then click Schedule Post.

Creating an Offer Post

Offer posts follow the same flow as Event posts, with an extra More Information section for the deal itself: Coupon Code, Link to Redeem Online, and Terms & Conditions.

Enter Link to Redeem Online as a complete URL, for example https://yourwebsite.com/offer. SocialPilot flags the field if the format isn't valid.

  1. Go to Post, then Create Post, and select your Google Business Profile account from the accounts panel.
  2. Scroll to Google Business Profile Options below the Caption box, and select the Offer tab (next to Update and Event).
  3. Add an Offer Title. Use the AI Pilot icon inside the field to generate one, or write your own, up to 58 characters.
  4. Check the Start Date and End Date. The same defaults and rules apply as for Event posts.
  5. Turn on Include Start/End times if you want to set exact times. Defaults are 12:00 AM and 11:59 PM.
  6. Under More Information, add a Coupon Code (up to 58 characters), a Link to Redeem Online, and any Terms & Conditions (up to 5000 characters). All three are optional.
  7. Click Add CTA & URL under Call To Action if you want to add a button, and add a Caption above (up to 1500 characters).
  8. Preview your post on the right, then click Schedule Post.

Saving Events and Offers to Your Post Library

You can also save an Event or Offer as a reusable template.

In Post Library, click Add Post to Library, select Google Business Profile, and choose Event or Offer.

The same fields and business rules described above apply.

Common Errors and How to Fix Them

If a required field is missing or a business rule is violated, SocialPilot blocks scheduling until it's fixed. Errors show up in the Needs Attention panel next to the Schedule button.

Title Errors

  • Title is empty: the Schedule button stays disabled. Hovering over it shows: "Please enter Event/Offer title to proceed."
  • Title is too long: the post moves to Needs Attention with "Event title exceeds the maximum limit of 58 characters" (or "Offer title exceeds the maximum limit of 58 characters" for an Offer post). Confirmed live.

Date and Time Errors

If your Schedule Date falls after the post's End Date, SocialPilot blocks scheduling with: "Schedule Date can not be after End Date (DD-MM-YYYY HH:MM AM/PM)."

You'll see this across Share Next, Add to Queue, Repeat Post, Stagger Post, Share Now, bulk reschedule, and Manage Post edits. If you run into it, check your End Date first.

Coupon Code, Terms & Conditions, and URL Errors

  • Terms and Conditions too long: "Terms and Conditions exceeds the maximum limit of 5000 characters."
  • Coupon Code too long: "Coupon Code exceeds the maximum limit of 58 characters."
  • Invalid redeem link: "Link to Redeem should be a valid URL."
