How to Add and Manage Location Nicknames
Introduction
A Location Nickname is an internal label assigned to each location in SocialPilot Reviews. It helps your team quickly identify which branch they're working on inside the platform, especially when multiple locations share the same business name.
Nicknames are only visible to your team. They are never shown to customers, never synced to Google or any connected publisher, and never appear in reports or campaigns. The business name is always used for all external communications and publisher syncs.

This is how you can add and manage Location Nicknames in SocialPilot Reviews
Step 1: Add a location with the same business name as an existing one
You can now add multiple locations that share a business name — for example, multiple branches of the same franchise or chain.
1. Go to Locations in SocialPilot Reviews.
2. Click Add Location.
3. Enter the business name.
4. If a location with the same name already exists in your brand, a unique nickname is automatically assigned.
5. Save the location.
Step 2: Edit a Location Nickname
A nickname is auto-assigned when a location is created. You can update it at any time.
1. Go to Locations.
2. Click on the location you want to update to open Location Details.
3. Find the Nickname field and enter a label that helps your team identify this branch.
4. Save your changes.
Note: Nicknames must be unique within a brand. If the nickname you enter is already in use by another location in the same brand, you will be prompted to choose a different one.
Step 3: Find a location using its nickname
Nicknames appear throughout the platform wherever your team navigates locations:
- Locations — shown on each location card alongside the business name and Location ID
- Location Details — shown in the location header
- Campaigns — shown in the sidebar so your team can identify which branch a campaign belongs to
- Reports — shown in the sidebar when editing; the business name continues to appear in all report content
Notes
- Nicknames are unique within a brand, not globally — two different brands can use the same nickname without conflict.
- If you do not set a nickname, one is automatically assigned.
- The business name is always what syncs to connected publishers and appears in all customer-facing content.
- Every location also has a Location ID — a permanent, auto-generated identifier visible on the location card and in Location Details.
- Location IDs cannot be edited and are reserved for upcoming bulk edit workflows.
